Police in Nairobi have arrested 214 suspects linked to various crimes within the Central Business District (CBD). The suspects are being processed and will be arraigned in court.

Nairobi County Police Commander George Seda noted that criminal activity is not confined to the streets but is also spreading online.

He cautioned TikTok content creators against exploiting security incidents for clout, warning that misleading the public in pursuit of popularity will not be tolerated.

According to Seda, many of these alleged attacks remain unreported, casting doubt on their authenticity and raising concerns about digital sensationalism.

Heโ€™s urging victims of real incidents to come forward and file official reports, emphasizing that justice begins with accountability.

Despite the recent surge in arrests, Commander Seda has reaffirmed to Nairobi residents that the city remains safe and under control.

โ€œWe, as the policing agency, have all the resources which we have employed now with the view of getting these perpetrators. CBD is safe, thatโ€™s my assurance, businesses are going on as usual, police visibility is enhanced as usual,โ€ said the Nairobi police boss.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen had on Thursday ordered a major crackdown on muggings in Nairobi, directing security agencies to intensify operations against criminal gangs targeting unsuspecting residents.

The CS said the government is concerned about the surge in violent robberies, many linked to groups posing as street children.

Kenyans have been taking to social media to share harrowing experiences at the hands of juvenile delinquents, saying they have been followed, robbed in broad daylight, and in some cases threatened with knives or harassed in shocking ways.
