A NACADA-led multi-agency team dismantled a major illicit brewing network in Kisumu on Tuesday, destroying more than 40,000 litres of illegal alcohol and arresting two suspects.
The operation in Pap Onditi, Bolo, involved the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), National Government Administration Officers, and a specialised Administration Police unit.
Teams seized 200 litres of ready-to-sell changโaa, 5,000 litres of molasses used for brewing, and 35,000 litres of kangara in preparation.
Authorities destroyed 200 jerricans and drums on site to prevent the brews from reaching the public.
โThis successful execution underscores our unwavering commitment, in full collaboration with all security agencies, to dismantle the networks that profit from poisoning our people,โ said NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Anthony Omerikwa.
โThe 100-day clock is ticking, and we are committed to delivering rapid, tangible results to safeguard the health and social fabric of our nation,โ he added.
The operation is part of the governmentโs 100-day Rapid Results Initiative, directed by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to tackle illicit alcohol and substance abuse.
Police are holding the two suspects at Sondu Miriu Police Station as investigations continue to trace the full supply chain and identify other individuals involved.
