Veteran actress Serah Teshna has hit back at a social media user who accused her of being with celebrated footballer Victor Wanyama for financial gain.

The exchange unfolded after the couple shared a playful video reflecting on Kenya’s CHAN campaign, where Harambee Stars won three matches and drew one before being knocked out by Madagascar.

In the clip, the Igiza star suggested that money had been a key motivator for the team:

“The problem with Kenyan football is the money. These guys were promised a million for every win and half a million for every draw. They are performing exceptionally. True or false?”

Wanyama agreed, adding:

“Somehow true. Money is everything, and motivation is very big. And nothing can motivate players more than money. We also have a world-class coach in Benny McCarthy, and you can see what it has done.”

Not everyone was amused. A user identified as @Kennedy took a swipe, writing:

“You also followed Victor because of his money.”

Teshna wasted no time clapping back with a fiery response that quickly went viral:

“Do not stop there, finish with… and currently living in London. Both my children are British. Launched my film and TV production. The first film from my production house premieres in October in London, in the largest cinema in the UK. You’ll probably watch it on Netflix, Canal or Amazon Prime. That money comes into my pocket. I am creating wealth, not just for myself but for generations to come. Poverty is the enemy, bro. Stay mad.”

Fans were quick to celebrate her sharp comeback. One wrote, “Sema comeback ya mwaka!” while another quipped, “What a reply, you’ve left the guy paralysed.” Others summed it up simply: “Money finds money.”

The couple first met nearly a decade ago during Teshna’s NYSC stint in Nigeria. Their relationship quickly blossomed, leading to marriage within months.

Though largely private, they went public in 2021 and have since welcomed two children — their first in September 2021 and their second in October 2024.

Nine years into their union, Teshna has made it clear she is charting her own path as a filmmaker and entrepreneur, refusing to let critics reduce her story to shallow stereotypes.

Her response left no doubt: she is not just standing beside a football star, but actively building her own legacy.
