In Kenya, when you hear the names of high-ranking politicians who have walked the corridors of power for years, you often associate them with influence, success, and leadership.

However, beyond politics and public service, many leaders also have unique personal lives.
A number of them openly embrace polygamy, with their relationships sparking discussions among Kenyans over the years.

The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) boss, Francis Atwoli, is one of the most well-known polygamous leaders in the country.
He is married to three wives: Jenifer Khainza, Roselinder Simiyu, and Mary Kilobi.
In March this year, after seven years of marriage, Atwoli and Kilobi welcomed their first child together.
The baby, named Atwoli Junior, became the trade unionistโs 18th child from all his three wives.
The Cabinet Secretary has two wives, Priscilla and Caroline Ambetsa,, and is also known to have a romantic relationship with Mary Biketi.
While Oparanya keeps his marriage to Priscilla and Caroline somehow private, his involvement with Biketi has been very public.
Their relationship first came to light after photos of them together leaked online, prompting them to go public.
Biketi has remained in the spotlight, even recently addressing speculation that she had been abandoned and was facing financial struggles.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, also a medic by profession, is another politician who openly embraces polygamy. He has four wives and 17 children.
His first wife, Adelaide Khalwale, was the mother of his first three children but she sadly, she passed away in 2019.
His other wives are Josephine, Gloria, and Diana.
Gloria has eight children with the senator, while Diana has three.
Khalwale frequently celebrates his childrenโs milestones publicly, often sharing moments with them on social media.

Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala has never shied away from speaking about polygamy.
He is married to Josephine and Veronica Wanjala, with whom he shares nine children.
He has previously hinted at plans to marry a third wife.
Seemingly, in a bid to maintain peace and harmony in his household, Wanjala built nearly identical homes for his two wives, ensuring that both enjoy equal treatment.

The legislator has also openly spoken about being raised in a polygamous family, which shaped his own views on marriage.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi is also in a polygamous marriage.
He is married to two wives, Lilian (his first wife) and Ann.
Sudi has proudly introduced his wives at public functions and has never shied away from acknowledging them.
One of the most memorable moments was during the 2022 General Election, when both Lilian and Ann collected his election certificate on his behalf.
Collins Ayugu, the MCA for Banja Ward in Vihiga County, is equally open about his polygamous marriage.
On this yearโs Motherโs Day, he celebrated his two wives publicly, sharing loving messages accompanied by their photos.
His gesture sparked mixed reactions on social media with some netizens openly praising him while others were curious about his dynamic with them.
However, Ayugu has yet to publicly reveal how many children he has with his wives or their names.
