Traffic along Thika Superhighway was briefly disrupted on Monday, September 1, after a Super Metro Sacco bus was torched on the busy route.

Photos and videos circulating on social media and seen by Viral Tea showed the vehicle engulfed in flames as onlookers gathered at the scene.

According to preliminary reports, the bus was attacked by enraged operators after it allegedly ran over and killed a bodaboda rider.

By Monday evening, the bus had been reduced to ashes, though no additional injuries were reported.

Moments before the blaze, social media users claiming to be at the scene had raised an alarm, warning that the vehicle was about to be set on fire.

It was not immediately clear whether passengers were inside the bus when the incident occurred.
