Ministry of Education officials in Narok County have shut down Narok Adventist Primary and Junior Secondary School indefinitely after a Grade Nine student was found murdered on the school grounds.
The 14-year-old was discovered dead in the dormitory over the weekend, with injuries and signs of a violent struggle.
Bloodstains were found both at the scene and in a nearby washroom, though the circumstances leading to his death remain unclear. Police have since launched investigations.
The incident has shaken the school community, leaving students, teachers, and parents in shock. Early reports indicate the boy may have been attacked in the early morning hours.
County Education Director Apollo Apuko confirmed the closure of the school, urging parents to remain calm as authorities work to determine the motive and cause of the killing.
The body has since been moved to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Tensions heightened on Monday when angry parents stormed the school, accusing administrators of withholding information about the incident.
Many demanded justice and stronger security measures in schools nationwide, warning that if the government failed to act, they would take it upon themselves to guard schools personally.
โThis school is in my neighbourhood, and we are still in utter shock over what has happened,โ said John Gatua, a Narok County CEC.
โWe did not hear any signs of struggle or noise that night. Itโs frightening to imagine that a student could be slaughtered like this.โ
Gatua noted that initial findings suggest the killing likely took place in the early morning hours, though the reason behind it is still unknown.
He denounced the incident, describing it as an unprecedented tragedy for the area.
