Nairobi, Kenya: Once again history is made in the three East Africa countries; Kenya, Tanzania and Kenya co-hosting the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, for emerging top in their respective groups to secure quarter finals matches in the home ground.

Kenya topped group A with 10 points after three wins and one draw. Tanzania led in group B with 10 points winning three and drawing one in the matches. While Uganda had to struggle to the top in their group C with 7 points thus winning two, losing one and drawing one match.

This therefore means that all the three co-hosting nations have booked the knockout stage in their respective home ground stadiums.ย

Harambee Stars of Kenya ended their last group A stage match on a high note by beating Chipolopolo of Zambia 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Moi Sports Center, Kasarani in Nairobi.ย 

On the other hand, Taifa Stars of Tanzania, finished their Group B matches unbeaten despite being held to a barren draw by the Central African Republic, in their last match on Saturday at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Uganda Cranes of Uganda in group C, clinched a historic place in the quarter-finals after pulsating 3-3 draw in their last match with Bafana Bafana of South Africa in front of 34,194 fans at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on Monday night.

Kenya topped group A with 10 points after beating DR Congo 1-0 in the opening match, drawing 1-1 with Angola in the second encounter. They humbled Morocco 1-0 and finished top by silencing Zambia 1-0. All matches were played at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in Nairobi.ย 

Now this coming Friday, 22, Kenya plays Madagascar at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Nairobi with kick-off at 5:00 pm (EAT).ย  Tanzania faces Morocco on Friday, 22, at 8:00 pm (EAT). The game will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.ย 

Uganda is to face Senegal on Saturday, 23 at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, and the game is scheduled for 20:00 pm local time(8:00pm).ย 

Sudan to clash with Algeria in the quarter-final match scheduled for Friday, 22 in Zanzibar City, Tanzania. The game is set to begin at 17:00 local time (5:00 PM).

All the CHAN 2024 tournaments are being staged across five venues in four cities, spread across three co-hosting nations: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The venues include in Kenya, Nairobi at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium. Tanzaniaโ€™s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibarโ€™s Amaan Stadium. Since the tournamentโ€™s inaugural edition in 2009, both the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Morocco have lifted the trophy twice. The DRC secured titles in 2009 and 2016, while Morocco claimed back-to-back victories in 2018 and 2020. Tunisia, Libya, and reigning champions Senegal have each won the tournament once.

The very first opening game was played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The final is set for the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani in Nairobi, Kenya. Mandela National Stadium (Namboole) in Kampala, Uganda will be a venue for the third-place playoff.
