Residents of Kangundo Sub-County have been urged to remain vigilant against political incitement and misinformation targeting elected leaders.

Speaking during a community engagement with widows in the area, well-wisher Stella Nzembi emphasized the need for civic education, particularly around the roles and responsibilities of various elected officialsโ€”from Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to Members of Parliament (MPs), Senators, and Governors.

โ€œIโ€™ve heard people heckling when the name of our MCA, Evelyn Nzeki, is mentioned,โ€ Nzembi said. โ€œBut itโ€™s important to understand that the role of an MCA is oversight, representation, and legislation. Unless they are allocated funds, you cannot expect them to implement development projects.โ€

Nzembi urged residents to verify claims made about public officials before taking sides or spreading falsehoods.

โ€œPlease be careful. Donโ€™t fall for incitement based on unverified allegations. Instead, educate yourselves about the specific duties of each leader and assess them fairly,โ€ she added.

During the meeting, Nzembi also announced her intention to vie for the Kangundo parliamentary seat in the next general election, positioning herself as a voice of unity and informed leadership.
