Kenyans have rallied behind Eliud Lagat, popularly known as Tapnyolei Rosaline, after he pulled off an unforgettable marathon live session with fellow comedian Arap Uria. The event, which lasted over 12 hours, captured the nationโs attention as Lagat, despite battling serious health challenges, displayed resilience, hope, and faith.
Lagat, celebrated for his cross-dressing acts at weddings and social functions, has been struggling with an eye condition that has left him partially blind. The illness not only disrupted his career but also cost him his marriage, forcing him to raise his children alone. He revealed that his wife walked away during his sickness, and they have not been in contact since.
The comedian underwent surgery at Tenwek Hospital but requires a second procedure estimated at KSh 1.6 million. With the cost proving difficult to raise, Lagat postponed his initial July fundraiser to September, hoping to gather enough support.
Ahead of the scheduled fundraiser, he and Arap Uria hosted a live session from August 26 into the next day. The event was emotional and inspiring, raising KSh 1 million in donations from fans and well-wishers. Videos shared online showed Lagat and Uria celebrating with tears of joy, breaking into worship songs in both Swahili and Kalenjin. โYote yawezekana kwa Imani,โ they sang, declaring that everything is possible with faith.
Speaking afterward, Lagat expressed deep gratitude to Uria and the online community. โI feel hopeful and have belief that we will raise the remaining amount during the fundraiser,โ he said.
Fans across Kenya were moved to tears by the show of friendship and unity. Many praised Arap Uria for standing firmly with Lagat in his time of need, describing the moment as proof of the power of solidarity. Comments flooded social media, with Kenyans calling the achievement a miracle and blessing Lagat with messages of healing and strength.
The overwhelming support not only brought hope to Lagat but also highlighted how friendship and community can make a real difference. His story of perseverance, faith, and unity has touched hearts nationwide, reminding many that even in hardship, collective kindness can create miracles.
