Grief and sadness have engulfed the Emitik Girls High school fraternity, in Nakuru County after their one-time Chemistry, Physics and Maths teacher passed away. The celebrated scholar is reported to have succumbed to injuries from grisly road accident at Namanga Road.

The Emurua Dikir born teacher, Peter Lelei was from work on September 3, when a canter lorry hit him from behind while riding on his motorcycle killing him on the spot. His death has not only been a blow to his family, but also the community which he was passionate about changing.

Mourning their beloved teacher, Emitik Girlโ€™s former students described him as a humble, dedicated and a go getter. Many remember him for his encouraging words against poverty and that it was possible to succeed despite oneโ€™s background.

โ€œMr. Lelei embraced his background whole heartedly, he was so loud about it, and kept encouraging us that if he would make it despite that so should we. He was rarely in friction with anyone, his lessons were fun. I am so devastated by his death, I remember when he left Emitik Girlโ€™s everyone was sad, it took us time to adjust,โ€™โ€™ Nelly Langat described him.

โ€œAfter Form 4 he was among my first Facebook friends, we kept in touch and was always encouraging me to push further, may he RIP,โ€™โ€™ Immaculate said.

He will be laid to rest at his Emurua Dikirr Home as the community come to terms with his untimely death.
