JONATHAN BII
Jonathan Bii Chelilim, commonly known as Koti Moja, is the current and second Governor of Uasin Gishu County, Kenya.
He was elected during the 2022 Kenyan general election and is a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Biiโs political career began in 2007 when he contested for the Eldoret North parliamentary seat against William Ruto as a KANU candidate,ย although he did not win.
Jonathan Bii began his education at Kapsumbeiywet Primary before moving to Arnesense Secondary School, where he completed his studies in 1989.
He later pursued a Diploma in Information Science at Sigalagal National Polytechnic.
Driven by a passion for community development, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Divinity (Counselling) from Shalom Bible College and Seminary.
Between 2014 and 2020, he pursued a masterโs degree in project planning and management at Kisii University and continued his academic journey to earn a PhD in the same field.
Biiโs professional journey began at Moi University, where he joined the Department of Information Science in 1996 and later served in the office of the Dean of Students, leveraging his counselling training to mentor youth.
He ventured into politics in 2007, contesting for Eldoret North (then Uasin Gishu) on a KANU ticket race he lost to William Ruto.
After unsuccessful bids in 2013 and 2017, Bii made a political comeback by winning the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in the August 2022 elections under the UDA ticket, becoming the second governor of the county.
