Renson M. Ingonga, Director Public Prosecutions

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga has been elected to the executive committee of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP).

Ingonga was elected a supernumerary member of the committee in the elections held on September 9 during the IAP 30th annual conference held in Singapore.

In a statement to the press, the head of communications at the Office of DPP Davi Shikami said Mr. Ingonga’s historic election isa proud milestone for Kenya and the African continent.

“This global recognition comes after Mr. Ingonga was elected President of the Africa Association of Prosecutors (APA)during the association’s 17th annual general meeting in Marrakech, Morocco in July 2024. It also follows his successful leadership in hosting the 23rd Commonwealth Heads of Prosecuting agencies Conference (HOPAC) in Mombasa, in July 2025,” said Mr. Shikami.

Mr. Shikami said Ingonga’s election reaffirms Africa’s growing influence in shaping international prosecutorial discourse and underscores Kenya’s steadfast commitment to active participation  in global justice initiatives.

He said this will provide a unique platform to enhance cooperation, address emerging challenges and strengthen prosecutorial standards across jurisdictions.

“The Office of DPP extends its gratitude to the IAP for the confidence it placed on Mr. Ingonga’s leadership. it reaffirms its unwavering dedication to the rule of law, international collaboration, and advancement of prosecutorial excellence,” stated Mr. Shikami.
