The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) will field its candidate for the vacant Malava parliamentary seat, party leader Rigathi Gachagua has said.

This comes barely hours after the DAP-K party led by Eugene Wamalwa launched propaganda campaigns in an effort to force DCP to drop its bid for the seat.

DCP has already picked and popularized youthful lawyer Edgar Busiega, whom Wamalwa had frustrated in DAP-K with nonstop demands for money until he decamped.

While addressing the media at the party head offices in Nairobi after a NEC meeting, Gachagua declared full support for Busiega and exuded confidence he will win the seat by a huge margin.

Gachaguaโ€™s declaration puts to rest the propaganda that had been spreading on social media that the opposition had agreed to support DAP-K in the Malava by election.

Gachagua announced that DCP would support other opposition parties in other areas especially where those parties held the now vacant seats but not in Malava, a seat previously held by ANC.

In western, DCP will only support DAP-K in Bungomaโ€™s Kabuchai and Chwele.

Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malalah, who is the DCP deputy party leader, has been categorical that DCP will field its candidate in Malava and has held rallies across the constituency popularizing Busiega.

Busiega on his side, has been steadfast and maintained he will not step aside for any other candidate and promised a bruising battle at the ballot.
