NTV Kenya reported that Mbobu was shot five times, sustaining injuries that led to his instant death at the scene.

His vehicle, which had shattered windows, was later towed to the Nairobi area for forensic examination, while his body was moved to Lee Funeral Home.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched a full-scale probe into what authorities suspect was a targeted killing.

Mbobu was a respected figure in Kenyaโ€™s legal community, having served as chairman of the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal and as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi.

He was also an accomplished author and governance expert, widely admired for his contributions to legal scholarship and public service.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) condemned the killing, calling it a ‘pre-determined assassination’ and a grave threat to the safety of legal practitioners.

This incident came just four months after the assassination of former Kasipul MP Ongโ€™ondo Were, who was gunned down by suspected boda boda riders near the City Mortuary roundabout shortly after leaving parliament.
