Tanzanian club Azam FC have gone way above and beyond to keep their most important player Feisal Salum after handing him a new lucrative deal.

Popularly known as Fei Toto, the Zanzibari-born attacking midfielder penned a one-year contract extension after the international break, ending speculation over his future.

Salum was heavily linked with South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in the last one year with reports claiming his former coach at Yanga Nasreddine Nabi was keen to reunite with him at the Johannesburg-based club.

However, a deal did not materialise while in recent months, his former club Yanga and rivals Simba have also been credited with an interest as well as Egyptian club Pyramids.

Azam have therefore managed to convince Fei Toto to sign a new deal which will see him earn Tsh800 million (Ksh42 million) throughout the course of his one-year contract as per The Citizen.

The contract also includes some mouth-watering incentives that appear to have sweetened it for the playmaker.

As per reports in Tanzania, the player will also be paid a signing-on bonus of $308,000 (Ksh40 million), get a house as well as a Toyota Anaconda MV.

Azam view Salum as a key member of the squad and risked losing him for free as he entered the final year of his contract but can now plan with him in mind after tying him for at least two years.

The midfielder has been a success since his controversial departure from Yanga two years ago and scored 19 league goals in his first season but saw his output dip last term, where he managed four goals as Azam finished a distant third in the league.
