Police in Nyatike Sub-County, Migori County, have arrested two people after recovering substances believed to be cannabis sativa and illicit alcohol.
The arrest were made on 10 August 2025 during a targeted operation by officers from Karungu Police Station aimed at tackling drug trafficking and the sale of illegal brews in the area.
According to the police, one suspect was found with 140 rolls, one broom and 40 sticks of what is suspected to be cannabis sativa.
In a separate incident, another suspect was arrested with 1.5 liters of a liquid believed to be changaa.
Both suspects are being held at Karungu Police Station and are expected to be processes and arraigned in court.
Police have said the crackdown is part of ongoing effort to address the circulation of illicit drugs and alcohol in the sub-county.
