The new TSC online transfer portal allows teachers to select counties, sub-counties, and schools in real time.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially activated its online transfer portal, opening a new chapter in how teachers move between schools.

The digital platform, first announced in August, is now live on portal.tsc.go.ke and will allow teachers to request transfers without the long delays and paperwork that have marked the process for years.

Through the portal, teachers can log in with their TSC number and password, select their preferred county and sub-county, and instantly view schools with staffing gaps in their subject combinations.

For example, as shown on the portalโ€™s interface, a teacher seeking a transfer to Kisumu County and Muhoroni Sub-county is presented with a list of specific schools that require their teaching subjects, making the process transparent and targeted.

The commission explained that teachers can also specify reasons for transfers, ranging from health concerns to family needs, and upload supporting documents where necessary.

Once an application meets the set requirements, such as minimum years of service in the current station and the availability of a suitable replacement, it is approved.

Transfers are scheduled to take effect during school holidays to minimise disruptions to learning.

The activation of the system marks a major milestone in TSCโ€™s broader digitisation agenda, which aims to modernise teacher management, improve efficiency, and enhance equity in the distribution of staff across the country.
