The 2025 National Sevens Circuit comes to an exciting finish at the Dala 7s in Kisumu.ย

All eyes are on KCB Rugby, who are just a few games away from winning the championship.ย

They lead the standings with 104 points, ahead of their main rival, Strathmore Leos, who have 95 points.ย

KCB needs to reach the semi-finals to win the title for sure, making every match a high-stakes event.ย

The tournament is packed with great teams and important games, promising a weekend full of action and drama as the new champions are crowned.

For KCB, the path to lifting the circuit trophy is clear.ย

A finish in the top four at Dala 7s will provide enough points to put the title beyond Strathmoreโ€™s reach.ย

This strategic position allows them to focus on a consistent performance rather than needing a tournament win.ย

KCBโ€™s recent form, including a 20-10 victory over Daystar Falcons in the Kabeberi 7s final last weekend, suggests they have the depth and confidence to handle the pressure.

Conversely, Strathmore Leos face a monumental task.ย

To have any chance of winning their first circuit title since 2009, they must clinch the Dala 7s trophy and hope for a significant collapse by KCB, who would need to finish sixth or lower.ย

The Leos, known for their tenacious play, have already shown they can beat KCB, but pulling off the required result at the seasonโ€™s final tournament will demand a perfect weekend.ย

The title race adds a layer of intensity to every match, from the pool stages to the knockout rounds.

Pool C is arguably the most anticipated, featuring title contenders KCB alongside a trio of formidable Nairobi teams: Mwamba RFC, Homeboyz RFC, and Embu RFC.ย

Fans can expect a battle of titans as these powerhouses clash for early dominance.ย

Meanwhile, Pool D puts Strathmore in a challenging group with Menengai Oilers, Impala RFC, and the hometown heroes, Kisumu RFC, who will no doubt be driven by the support of the local crowd.

The Dala 7s also hosts a concurrent Division Two tournament at Kisumu Polytechnic, featuring 20 teams from across the country, showcasing the depth of rugby talent in Kenya.

The Dala 7s is more than just the final leg of the circuit; itโ€™s a celebration of Kenyan sevens rugby.ย

Since its inception in 2003, the tournament has cemented its place as a key event, known for its vibrant atmosphere and ability to crown both established legends and rising underdogs.ย

The name โ€œDala,โ€ which means โ€œhomeโ€ in the local Luo language, reflects the tournamentโ€™s deep connection to the Kisumu community.

Over the years, the tournament has served as a launchpad for many stars, with players like Collins Injera and Humphrey Kayange making their mark on the circuit.ย

This year, teams like KCB, led by experienced players such as Vincent Onyala and Floyd Wabwire, are eager to add to their legacy.ย

The tournamentโ€™s rich history, combined with the Tusker-backed sponsorship that has enhanced its professional feel, ensures that the Dala 7s is a spectacle of skill, passion, and tradition.ย

As the teams take to the field, they will not only be competing for a trophy but also for their place in the storied history of Kenyan sevens rugby.
