KRA announces 8-Hour Integrated Customs Management System downtime on Sunday.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) will undergo a scheduled maintenance this weekend.

In a statement on September 12, the authority stated that the exercise will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

According to KRA, the maintenance will begin at 4am and end at 12pm the same day.

“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS from Sunday, September 14, 2025, 4 am to Sunday, September 14, 2025, 12 pm. We regret any inconvenience caused,” the notice read.

KRA added that the scheduled maintenance will affect all stakeholders who rely on the system for their daily operations.

“KRA informs all stakeholders that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS,” the statement reads.

The authority urged users to plan their transactions in advance to avoid delays during the system downtime.

The iCMS is an online platform that assists the KRA in managing customs processes, including clearing goods at ports, paying taxes, and tracking cargo as it enters or leaves the country.

During the scheduled downtime, these essential services will be unavailable, which may temporarily disrupt trade activities that rely on the system.

The system plays a crucial role in streamlining trade and protecting Kenya’s borders from illicit goods.

The scheduled maintenance will temporarily halt access to key services like cargo clearance, duty payment processing, and consignment tracking.

As a result, importers and exporters will be unable to submit documentation or receive clearance during the eight-hour period.

The iCMS was established in 2019 to replace the legacy Simba system, providing a more coordinated, streamlined, transparent, and efficient customs experience.
