Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has assured President William Ruto that the county remains committed to focusing on big development projects over the ongoing politics of the Mt. Kenya region.

The governor made the remarks on Sunday, August 10, 2025, while hosting President Ruto for a worship service at PCEA Joshua Matenjwa Church in Limuru Town.

โ€œIn this county we have our agenda clear-cut. Unlike others, we decided to reduce the volume of politicking to zero so that we can have a conducive environment for meaningful work. That is the mood here. This is the criteria to know those working and those engaging in talks only,โ€ he said.

Wamatangi highlighted the countyโ€™s significant progress in healthcare, public service, and education.

โ€œOur county is now being tipped as the number one in many development facets, ranging from the building of ECDE classes to others. We also resolved to go completely green in our public service. At first we used to be drilling boreholes, and when they are placed in electrical storage, no one has been consuming that water. We now have installed solar street lighting, and the bills we used to incur in services fees are now saved,โ€ he noted.

During the event, Wamatangi urged the head of state to allow the western bypass loop to pass through Limuru Town, saying the move would help economically open up the region.

His appeal came just weeks after he announced that Thikaโ€™s bid to attain city status had received unanimous approval from Kiambu MCAs. The report is now before the Senate.

The proposed upgrade is expected to create over 50,000 jobs through projects spearheading industrialization and tapping into Thikaโ€™s strong infrastructure and revenue base.

Concurrently, Kiambu Woman Representative Wanjiku Wamuratha reaffirmed the regionโ€™s support for President Ruto, stating they believe in his vision to improve and transform Kenyansโ€™ lives.

โ€œAt times people may not understand you, but those of us who understand your vision for this county know you have an agenda for this county, and we believe in what you are telling us,โ€ she said. โ€œThe agenda the president has for our children must be supported by us, especially the women. We have projects for TVETs and village polytechnicsโ€”let us get our children there,โ€ she urged.

โ€œWe will continue to support this government and the president,โ€ she added.
