Busia Governor Paul Otuoma was forced to flee the venue of a tribunal hearing on the petition challenging his election as the Orange Democratic Movement Busia County Chairman during the recently concluded party delegates elections.

Tension erupted at the hearing, held at the International Convent Hotel in Nairobi after a group of agitated youths confronted the governor, accusing him of orchestrating irregularities in the local ODM polls.

โ€œHe had to run for his life. Youths demanded answers from him โ€” there will be no escape route this time. The ODM Disputes Tribunal must not be used to rubber-stamp a flawed process,โ€ one of the protestors said.

The hearing failed to reach any consensus, with lawyers representing the petitioners raising concerns over the composition and legitimacy of the ODM Party Disputes Tribunal.

โ€œThere are only two members on the tribunal, so itโ€™s unclear how decisions will be made however, we are confident that our submissions have shed light on the irregularities in the Busia delegates elections, and we trust that justice will prevail for the people of Busia.โ€ Biko said.

The determination of the matter is set for the 24th of this month.
