Nairobi โ Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has spoken about his preparedness ahead of the 2027 General Election.

There have been reports that Matiang’i will soon formally join former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
However, during an interview on TV 47 on Wednesday, September 17, Matiang’i disclosed that currently, he does not belong to any political party

The former Interior CS admitted that senior members of the Jubilee Party want him to be their presidential candidate in the coming election.

He pointed out that he is still discussing with other political players before unveiling his preferred political vehicle.
Matiang’i further rubbished allegations that his presidential bid is being sponsored by the former president, terming such claims as baseless and petty.

He dismissed claims of being a political project, asserting that his record and independence prove otherwise.
While acknowledging his decade-long Cabinet service and close relationship with Uhuru, he maintained that friendship and professional trust do not equate to being a political pawn.
In terms of funding his campaigns, Matiang’i said his campaign relies on contributions from friends, former classmates, and well-wishers.
He stated that even the former president is free to contribute to his campaign kit.
