President William Ruto has responded to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua’s threat to halt his Affordable Housing Project.

It all started on Thursday, September 18, when the ex-country’s second-in-command criticised Ruto’s inaugural program, calling it a fraud against the people of Kenya.
Gachagua affirmed that he would see to it that the Housing Levy, which funds the Affordable Housing, is abolished once the new government is voted in after the 2027 General Election.

He stated that the programme was one of the reasons why he fell out with his former boss.
Explaining why he did not publicly defend the Kenya Kwanza government during his time as deputy president, Gachagua said he realised the affordable housing initiative was a business scheme.

In a firm response, the president criticised Gachagua and reaffirmed that the Affordable Housing Programme would provide jobs and better housing for Kenyans.
While speaking in Mombasa County, he urged Gachagua and his allies in the United Opposition to develop a clear agenda to win voters’ support in the upcoming elections.
