Harambee Stars playmaker Mohammed Bajaber will have to work under a new coach following the abrupt departure of South African tactician Fadlu Davids.

Harambee Stars forward Mohammed Bajaber set to work under a new coach after South African tactician Fadlu Davids dumped Simba SC.

Davids finally bid farewell to Simba on Monday, ending days of speculation over his future, and it has been confirmed that he has agreed to take over Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

The South African coach has opted to return to familiar surroundings after serving as assistant coach to countryman Josef Zinnabauer at Raja when they won the league and cup double in the 2023-24 season, staying unbeaten in the Moroccan Botola Pro League.

Raja are therefore hoping that his magic can rub off on the squad now as head coach following the departure of Tunisian Lassaad Chabbi.

That has left Simba searching for a new coach just over one year since Davids joined them in July 2024 and guided them to second place in the league, which they lost to bitter rivals Yanga by just one point, and also made it to the CAF Confederation Cup final, where they were beaten by Moroccan side RS Berkane.

It is a setback somewhat for Bajaber, who had been hoping to work under Davids after going on pre-season with the team and starting the season under the former Orlando Pirates coach who had an input in his signing from Kenya Police.

Simba started their season with a 1-0 win over Gaborone United of Botswana in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round last Saturday when Davids travelled with the team but the club has announced his departure ahead of the second leg in Dar es Salaam this weekend.

Bajaber, who has been recovering from an injury since he joined the club, was not part of the squad that played in Botswana but will hope to be fit for the league which begins on Thursday against Singida United on September 25.
