American track queen Melissa Jefferson-Wooden proved to be the most successful athlete at the just-concluded 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The nine-day event ended on Sunday and Jefferson-Wooden was among those who ensured the final day would be a memorable one as she was part of a Team USA team that won the womenโs 4x100m relay gold ahead of Jamaica.
That completed a rare three-peat for the 24-year-old who was the only athlete to win three gold medals in Tokyo as she had also claimed the 100m and 200m titles, which saw her became the first American to do the sprint double, and the second only to Jamaican great Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to claim three titles at a single championship.
