Fredrick Okango, a political strategist, has quit his role as KANUโ€™s Secretary of Political Affairs and also relinquished his membership in the party.

In his resignation letter to Secretary General George Wainaina, he explained that his exit was influenced by the shifting political landscape in Kenya, describing the move as part of both personal growth and broader national change.

He noted that his decision to quit both his post and party membership was guided by the Political Parties Act of 2011 and the KANU Constitution.ย The Registrar of Political Parties formally acknowledged his resignation on September 23, 2025.

Okango said his resignation was motivated by his own political growth and the shifting landscape of Kenyaโ€™s politics, which he described as being at a critical โ€œcrossroadsโ€ that demands decisive action and new leadership.

He also signalled plans to reveal the next chapter of his political path in the near future.

“I hereby resign, with immediate effect, from the position of Secretary of Political Affairs and from membership of KANU, in line with the Political Parties Act, 2011, and the KANU Constitution,” he said.

“This step reflects both my personal political growth and the shifting realities of our nation’s politics. Kenya is at a crossroads that calls for bold choices, fresh leadership, and transformative renewal. Guided by this conviction, I will, in due course, engage Kenyans on the next phase of my political journey.”
