Malindi, Kilifi County – August 12, 2025 – Police in Malindi, Kilifi County are investigating a tragic domestic incident in which a man died after being assaulted by his own son during a dispute over money.

The victim, identified as Christopher Wambua, was working at Muyeye Handcraft on August 9, 2025, when his son allegedly confronted him, demanding money. According to police, the confrontation escalated, leading the suspect to attack Wambua with a wooden stick.

Wambua sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. Before succumbing to his injuries, he told medical staff and police officers that he had been assaulted by his son.

Police have confirmed that the son was arrested shortly after the incident and is now in custody awaiting formal charges. The motive of the attack is believed to be the dispute over money, but detectives are continuing their investigation.

Wambua’s body has been transferred to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have emphasized that justice will be pursued in this case.
