Prisoner holding metal cage in jail, no freedom concept

Kehancha, Migori County โ€“ August 12, 2025 โ€“ A police corporal attached to the Kuria Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices has been arrested after reporting the loss of his service pistol under unclear circumstances at a bar in Kehancha town.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at around 9 pm. According to reports, the officer was in the company of a female reveller when he noticed his Duma pistol, loaded with 15 bullets, had gone missing.

Witnesses claim a stranger had earlier interacted with the pair before disappearing. It is suspected that the woman may have stolen the weapon.

Both the officer and the woman were arrested as investigations began. A search was conducted in the area, but the missing firearm was not recovered.

Losing a police-issued firearm is a serious offence under Kenyan law.
