Kilifi County, Kenya – August 12, 2025 – Tragedy has struck Marereni, Kilifi County, after a woman who had been missing for three days was found dead in a thicket just 200 meters from her home.

The victim, identified as Kanze Karisa, was last seen on August 9, 2025 before her disappearance sparked a police search. Her lifeless body was discovered on August 11, 2025, lying in a secluded area near her house.

According to Kenya Police Service reports, Karisa’s body had visible bruises on her thigh and back, suggesting she may have been assaulted before her death. Authorities suspect she was killed at the scene.

Police confirmed that a missing person report had been filed at the local station before the grim discovery. The motive for the killing remains unknown, but detectives have launched a full-scale investigation.

The body has since been moved to the mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Kilifi County police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. This case adds to the growing list of unsolved murders in Kenya, raising concerns over community safety.
