Nairobi, Kenya โ€“ August 12, 2025 โ€” Popular Kalenjin businessman Pavilion Motiriot is facing intense backlash after a viral video showed him assaulting content creator Bella Comedy during the Kutit Culture event. The incident, captured on camera, has sparked outrage among Kenyans, with many demanding his immediate arrest.

According to Tuko.co.ke, the altercation occurred after Motiriot allegedly confronted Bella over comments she had made about him on social media.

In a now-viral audio recording, Motiriot admitted to physically assaulting Bella. He claimed he had previously warned her to stop speaking negatively about him online.

โ€œWhat happened is that this girlโ€ฆ yesterday we met. We had met previously before that event, and I had told her to stop what she was doing online. Yesterday I met her and told her, โ€˜Letโ€™s go speak on the side.โ€™ I took her to the side, and she started screaming, so I beat her because she had soiled my name,โ€ he said.

Motiriot further stated that they did not enter a car, as some online claims suggested, but simply moved aside to talk before the confrontation escalated.

โ€œShe has been talking about me daily and I had told her to stop. So I slapped her,โ€ he added.

The incident has triggered widespread condemnation on social media, with hashtags demanding #JusticeForBella trending. Many Kenyans have urged authorities to take legal action against Motiriot, arguing that no personal dispute justifies violence.

Assault is a criminal offence under Kenyan law, and if charged, Motiriot could face fines or imprisonment. As of now, police have not confirmed whether formal complaints have been filed.

This controversy comes amid heightened discussions on gender-based violence in Kenya, with advocacy groups calling for stronger measures to protect women from harassment and assault.
