Musician and entrepreneur Akothee has publicly come to the defense of TikToker Azziad Nasenya following reports that Azziad’s Ksh25 million apartment in Kileleshwa is facing auction. In an open letter penned on social media, Akothee fiercely criticized the public for mocking the young content creator’s alleged financial struggles.
Akothee began her lengthy post by expressing her respect and admiration for Azziad’s ambition.
“Let’s stop bullying Azziad, pick a struggle! First and foremost, I respect and love this girl even more for dreaming bigger. That’s exactly the way to go,” she wrote.
Akothee argued that the public should celebrate Azziad’s courage for taking a significant financial risk at a young age.
“At just 25 years old, Azziad can acquire a loan and buy herself a house. That’s commendable!” she stated, suggesting that Azziad’s situation simply reflects the reality that many Kenyans rely on loans.
She went on to hit back directly at critics, particularly men who were mocking the influencer.
“Some of the men criticizing her don’t even qualify for a motorbike loan and are still living in rental houses they can barely afford. Let’s celebrate courage, not condemn it,” Akothee emphasized.
Akothee also used her own tumultuous past to highlight the difficulty of life for many young women. She noted that at 25, many women are grappling with failed marriages, raising children alone, and facing financial ruin, often with “zero bank accounts, no jobs, no certificates, and no direction.”
Akothee’s message of support comes after reports surfaced alleging that Azziad had defaulted on a Ksh25 million mortgage for her apartment after only three months, leading to the threat of auction.
