Higher education institutions in the country have urged the government to allocate adequate funds to their institutions, enabling them to operate more efficiently and effectively.

Speaking during this yearโ€™s Teacher Education Conference, held recently at the Mombasa Beach Hotel in Mombasa County, conference participants lamented that many development projects in their learning institutions have stalled due to a lack of funds.

They further revealed that more resources should therefore be made available to learning institutions if quality education training is to be offered to students.

โ€œLack of funds for infrastructural development in the learning institutions in the country has been identified as a major stumbling block towards education enhancement,โ€ the Conference participants explained.

They, however, stated that the education sector is essential for any development undertaking worldwide. Therefore, it should receive significant attention to advance it to the next level of development.

Additionally, the participants stated that all education stakeholders in the country should collaborate if quality education training is to yield results.

โ€œMonitoring and evaluation of education programmes in the country is crucial and therefore the government should provide resources for effective operations,โ€ they observed.

The participants, who are education stakeholders in the country, pledged to redouble their efforts to make the countryโ€™s education sector the best in East Africa and the southern Sahara.

However, they asked the government to ensure that the distribution of tutors in educational institutions across the country is evenly distributed for effective teaching and learning.

Science Laboratories should be provided in both Junior and senior secondary schools in the country for effective teaching of Science subjects.
