2008 Football Kenya Federation Premier League Champions Mathare United and betting firm 1xbet have launched a tree planting initiative that will see the club through its umbrella organization Mathare Youth And Sports Organisation,MYSA,plant 50 trees.

The trees will be planted in Mathare area, the birth place of the club over 30 years ago.

“Our partnership with Mathare United FC is an investment in the future. We want to help talented youth realize their dreams through football,” 1xBet representative stated.

“We believe that responsibility means action. And action starts with simple things — like planting this tree together today,” added a 1xBet representative.

Players from Mathare United FC , their coaching staff,  and local community are expected to take part in the tree planting exercise.

‘’It’s fulfilling to comeback to where it all started.we used to be like 800 kids here all with a dream of turning out for Matahre United.Its fulfilling and it gives me huge morale and energy to succeeed as well desire to lift the community’’midfielder Steve Kimari said.

‘’As you know 70% of Mathare United players salaries are drawn from training and 30% from community service,and this is one of the community work,we are trying to get them back from where they came from so that they get in touch with their roots. This is a continuous project we will carry it out in 18 MYSA zones in Nairobi and we want let the community know that we are back and never left the community’’ Mathare United CEO Jecton Obure said.

‘’This is an opportunity for us as a team to bond .we were unlucky not to have gone for a pre-season camp but this has offered us a chance to do that.I have an opportunity to make the environment better for tomorrow’s generation’’ head coach John Kamau noted.

After two opening rounds of the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation Premier League Matahre United are placed 8th with three points after registering one win and losing another.They play Tusker Fc on October 1st.
