Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through stronger collaboration with PATH focused on sustainable health solutions anchored in local innovation and manufacturing capacity.

The Medical Services Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga held discussions with PATH President and CEO Nikolaj Gilbert to review and strengthen the longstanding partnership of nearly three decades between PATH and the Government of Kenya.

The discussions focused on expanding joint efforts in health workforce development, vaccine manufacturing technology transfer, and local production of essential health products.

These areas are seen as critical to advancing Kenyaโ€™s health system transformation and ensuring better outcomes for citizens.

Dr. Oluga underscored the governmentโ€™s ambition to position Kenya as a regional hub for vaccine innovation and manufacturing, while Gilbert pledged PATHโ€™s continued technical support and global expertise to help Kenya achieve sustainable, locally driven health solutions.

Gilbert praised Kenyaโ€™s leadership in driving reforms and highlighted PATHโ€™s role in providing technical expertise and facilitating knowledge exchange to accelerate progress.

PATH has partnered with the Government of Kenya for nearly 30 years to advance health equity through innovation and collaboration focusing on immunization, malaria, HIV/TB, maternal and newborn health, nutrition, non-communicable diseases, and health systems strengthening.

He was joined by Dr. Nanthalile Mugala (Chief of Africa Region), Caroline Moor Larson (Head of Operations, Office of the President), and Carolyne Njuguna (Director of the East Africa Hub).
