Fresh data from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) shows registered .ke domains rose toย 111,313 by June 2025, aย 4.2% increaseย from 106,800 a year earlier, and a 1.9% rise from the previous quarter. from 109,251 in March 2025.

The regulator links the growth in .ke adoption to wider internet access, rapid expansion of 4G and 5G networks, and the push by organisations to secure local digital identities in an increasingly competitive online marketplace.

Wider 4G and 5G coverage โ€” now at 97.3 and 30% of the population respectively โ€” alongside the rollout of 2,275 kilometres of fibre optic infrastructure under the CA-ICT Authority project, have driven strong growth in digital connectivity overall. Affordable devices, competitive tariffs and growing demand for e-services have further advanced Kenyaโ€™s digital inclusion, driving both internet accessibility and online adoption across sectors.

The steady rise of Kenyaโ€™s domain space underlines how digital presence is becoming integral to business strategy. Still, the weak uptake among individuals points to an untapped opportunity for registrars to develop products targeting creatives, entrepreneurs and SMEs that continue to rely on international platforms.
