Kilgoris Member of Parliament, MP Julius Sunkuliย has pledged to upgrade all public schools in his constituency as part of a wider plan to improve access to quality education.

Speaking during a tour ofย Oldonyorokย andย Angataย primary schools, the MP said funds have already been set aside for the renovation of infrastructure in several learning institutions.

โ€œThis is part of my long-term commitment to uplift the education standards in Kilgoris,โ€ said Sunkuli. โ€œWe have already begun the process, and more schools will follow.โ€

He emphasized the importance ofย community involvementย in realizing the education development agenda, noting that the success of such projects depends on the cooperation of all stakeholders.

โ€œImproving our schools is not the responsibility of the MP alone. It is a collective effort. I appeal to all residents to support this cause,โ€ he urged.

Sunkuli pointed out that decent classrooms not only provide a conducive learning environment but alsoย motivate students to attend school, which he believes will translate into better academic performance.

โ€œWhen learners are proud of their schools, they are more likely to attend consistently and perform better,โ€ he added.

However, the MP cautioned residents against placing all their hopes on theย National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), urging them to also seek support fromย other elected leaders and development partners.

โ€œThe CDF has its limits. We must be proactive and engage other leadersโ€”MCAs, the county government, and even private donorsโ€”to complement our efforts,โ€ he said.

Local residents welcomed the MPโ€™s initiative, saying the plan will address persistent challenges such as absenteeism and poor learning environments.

โ€œThis move is timely. Our children have suffered due to poor infrastructure. If schools are improved, more learners will stay in class,โ€ said Mary Ntaai, a parent from Angata.

Another resident, Daniel ole Risa, added, โ€œWe appreciate the MPโ€™s efforts. This will go a long way in boosting education in this region.โ€

The renovations are expected to begin in the coming weeks, with priority given to the most dilapidated schools.
