As the 2026 Kenya Post-Primary Education Teachers, KUPPET National Election campaigns gains momentum in West Pokot County, Gender Secretary Naomi Cheptum Siwatum best known as the Iron Lady is viciously on the grind of strongly defending her Gender Secretary seat which she has occupied since the last General Elections.

In a swift and tactical moves Naomi has been meeting teachers during Teachers Educational forums and at their respective schools assuring them that she is going to improve on the best that she has already done in the Union for the benefit of the members.

The aspirant who exhibits total confidence and great leadership qualities is proud that her achievement is immense includingย breast feeding time teachers now enjoy while on duty, maternity and paternity leave for teachers which have both been implemented by TSC.

Naomi is boosting on the achievements which carried her during the last election, winning West Pokot County teachers votes and clinging the Gender Secretary Seat.

Naomi, the team player has crisscrossed the West Pokot County sensitizing teachers on the importance of joining the union and so far more members have registered as union members.

โ€œI have fully supported all through the discussions onย better CBAs for the teachers and so far a lot has been achieved,โ€ said Naomi.

โ€œI together with other leaders who will be electedย  in the coming election willย  continue agitating for better terms and conditions for our members,โ€ Naomi added.

Currently, Naomi Cheptum Siwatum is a dependable English/Literature teacher at St.Marks Plelakan Secondary School and fully participates in the Co-curricular activities in the school.

โ€œI will use all my energies, clear vision and determination to ensure that the West Pokot County Kuppet members enjoy the noble teaching profession as they discharge their duties to teach and guide the learners,โ€ saidย Cheptum

Cheptum, who is the daughter of former successful Principal of Chepkorniswo Boys Secondary School and Kessha Chairman Albert Siwatum Rumaita, is actively pushing for the junior school autonomy to address the issue of management.

In her manifesto she says, JSS autonomy will ensure that the structures of administration are clear, teachers and learners are motivated and proper participation of educational stakeholders on matters concerning Education.

Naomi has been a distinguished leader in all the institutions she has passed through including Psigirio (Kamwino), Primary School, Moi Siongiroi High School in Chepalungu Constituency in Bomet County and the prestigious Kenyatta University.
