The National Unity Platform (NUP) Election Management Committee, led by Harriet Chemutai, has officially released the list of parliamentary candidates who will contest as the partyโs flagbearers in the forthcoming general election.
The full list has been published on NUPโs official platforms, confirming who will carry the red banner into the 2026 race.
However, the announcement came with major surprises as several incumbent MPs were denied party tickets. Among those dropped in what many describe as Kavuleโs latest purge are Medard Ssegona (Busiro East), Francis Katongole Katabazi (Kalungu East), Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West), Paul Nsubuga (Busiro North), Fred Ssimbwa (Nakifuma), Aloysius Mukasa (Rubaga South) and Derrick Nyeko (Makindye East).
The exclusions mark a dramatic reshuffle within the partyโs parliamentary lineup, signalling a new strategy by NUP as it prepares for the 2026 general election.
