Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabiโs presence in Tanzania has led to excitement among fans and the veteran tactician has opened up about his presence in the country.
Veteran Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi has sparked excitement among fans in Tanzania after landing in the country days after his departure from South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.
Nabi and Chiefs have not officially parted ways but both parties confirmed that they are in talks over an exit and he has not been in the dugout in the last four matches for the South African giants.
With Simba currently without a coach, Nabi is among names that have been linked with the Tanzanian giants, owing to his two-year success with rivals Yanga, who he guided to the 2022 and 2023 league titles as well as the CAF Confederation Cup final two years ago.

“Nimeona watu wanasema nimekuja hapa kwa ajili ya Simba, wengine wanasema Yanga, hapana! The 60-year-old arrived in Tanzania on Wednesday, sparking excitement among Simba fans but he has distanced himself from the vacancy at the Wekundu wa Msimbazi, insisting he is in the country for a private visit.
“I have seen people say I came here for Simba, others say Yanga, no! I am here on my own journey, I think this is the third time I have come here,โ Nabi said as per Sports Arena TZ.
“Tanzania is home, that is why I really like coming here. Since I arrived, I have not met any official of Simba or Yanga. When I finish my business, I will leave.”
Nabi is a highly experienced and successful coach who has won titles in DR Congo, Sudan and Tanzania and ended Chiefsโ 10-year wait for a trophy when he guided them to the Nedbank Cup last season which saw them return to continental football for the first time since 2021.
However, just a month into the 2025-26, news emerged that he was set to leave Chiefs at a time his team had started the season with four wins and a draw in their first six matches, with different reasons given over his departure.
It remains to be seen if Nabi will take up another coaching job soon after it was reported that one of the main reasons for his departure was to be with his ailing wife who was involved in an accident in August.
