Emmanuel Osoro and Moses Shumah have received advice from David ‘Calabar’ Owino.

David โ€˜Calabarโ€™ Owino knows the Zambian league so well and has sought to offer his experiences to Moses Shumah and Emmanuel Osoro who made the switch three months ago.

Former Harambee Stars defender David โ€˜Calabarโ€™ Owino has revealed how he is helping Harambee Stars duo Moses Shumah and Emmanuel Osoro settle into the Zambian Super League.

Shumah secured the league’s Golden Boot with 17 goals, while Osoro was just one goal behind his compatriot.

Owino, who has played in the Zambian league for over a decade, is well-acquainted with the duoโ€™s new environment. Speaking to Mozzart Sport, he explained how he has assisted the pair in their transition.

โ€œI have linked them (Shumah and Osoro) with a Ghanaian friend and former team-mate who has been there for a while, understands the people and the culture and will help them adapt faster,โ€ said Owino.

The former Gor Mahia defender also offered advice on what the Kenyan duo must do to ensure their stint in Zambia is a big success.

โ€œFootball is more of mental, personality and the desire to make it happen. Once you have resolved to make it, you will do it,โ€ added the former Gor mahia defender. โ€œThere will be off-pitch challenges like missing home and family, but once you have the desire and will, you just hit the road and everything will be okay.โ€

Having experienced both Kenyan and Zambian football, the former Sher Karuturi FC player also highlighted the differences between the two leagues.

โ€œFootball in Zambia is totally different from Kenya, and that is one thing I am sure they have understood by now. It will take them (Osoro and Shumah) a bit of time to adapt, but I am sure they will do so and have good performances,โ€ said Owino.

โ€œFootball in Zambia is so athletic and therefore requires one to be very fit, which, again, I am sure they have experienced. Even the training is so intense and happens twice a day.โ€

Following their moves to Zambia, Shumah has scored twice while Osoro is yet to find the target.
