Content creator Mitchelle, popularly known as Mjaka Mfine, has addressed the controversy linking her to Lang’ata MP Jalang’o after private chats between them leaked online. The conversations fueled speculation about the nature of their relationship.
Mitchelle has now clarified the matter, explaining that the MP was only assisting her in recovering a stolen iPhone.
The saga began when Mitchelle lost her iPhone during a university event. Days later, she noticed a man named Cedo advertising a phone online that looked identical to hers and was being sold at a suspiciously low price. Convinced it was the same device, she confronted him and also reported the matter to the police. However, the authorities told her they were unable to trace it.
Frustrated, Mitchelle decided to seek help from people she believed could intervene.
Among those she reached out to was Jalang’o. She shared Cedo’s number with the MP, and the two later contacted him. Mitchelle revealed that she, Jalang’o, and Cedo’s mother joined a phone call together, where they discussed the situation and tried to resolve it.
Not long after, the chats surfaced online, sparking rumors that her connection with the legislator went beyond the lost phone. Some even speculated that the MP was financially supporting her.
Mitchelle strongly denied the claims, stressing that her only interaction with Jalang’o was in pursuit of her missing iPhone.
She maintained that she has proof to support her account, including call recordings and text exchanges with Jalang’o and Cedo. She also dismissed claims that they threatened Cedo during the conversations.
Equally, Mitchelle rejected suggestions that her lifestyle is funded by the MP, explaining that she still depends on her parents for financial support.
“I, who still rely on my parents, just because I asked for help,” she remarked, expressing disbelief at the online backlash.
For her, the situation was blown out of proportion. At its core, she said, the story was simple: she lost her phone, sought help, and Jalang’o stepped in.
While the incident has attracted widespread attention, Mitchelle insists the matter should be seen for what it is — an effort to recover her stolen device, not a scandal.
