โNairobi, October 1, 2025 โ A former top executive of MUA Insurance has threatened to take legal action againstย the company of breaching a separation agreement and leaking defamatory statements to local media houses, statements that have damaged her reputation. โ โThrough her lawyers, Danstan Omari & Associates, Ms. Lydiah Kibaara has written to the MUA Group Board in Mauritius and the Group Chief Executive Officer in Nairobi, demanding immediate action.
โ โKibaara, who has served in the insurance sector for 27 years and held senior positions at Britam, Jubilee Insurance, and Saham Assurance before joining MUA, claims the firm has failed to honor the terms of her exit deal. โ โIn a worded demand letter, her legal team alleges that MUA has engaged in actions that not only breach the contract but also amount to defamation, tarnishing her professional standing in the industry.
โ โโOur client is a professional of high standing with an unblemished record in Kenya and the East African region. The defamatory remarks and breach of agreement are unacceptable,โ the letter reads in part.
โ โThe lawyers have demanded that MUA immediately cease any defamatory communication and fulfill its contractual obligations. They have warned that failure to comply will compel their client to seek redress through the courts. โ โMUA Insurance is yet to respond to the allegations. โ
