The Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) Party has unveiled and presented nomination certificates to its candidates for the November 27 by-elections.

MDG Party Leader David Ochieng presided over the event at party headquarters in Nairobi.

Ochieng urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to strictly enforce the electoral code of conduct and guarantee a peaceful environment during the elections.

He warned that recent incidents of violence witnessed during party primaries across the country pose a serious threat to democracy.

Ochieng called on the IEBC to stamp its authority and ensure that all participants uphold the principles of free, fair, and credible elections.

Ochieng presented certificates to Collins Okeyo Omondi (Kasipul Constituency) and Joel Ongoro Otuoma (Kisa East Ward).

Ochieng emphasised the partyโ€™s firm stance against violence.

โ€œAs a party, we abhor violence and implore all those contesting in the by-elections to conduct themselves with respect, uphold the law, and show tolerance,โ€ Ochieng said.

โ€œWe also urge the IEBC to take decisive action against candidates who use violence to intimidate opponents.โ€

Kenya is set to hold a series of by-elections on November 27, 2025, following a directive by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The polls aim to fill multiple vacant positions across the country, including a senatorial seat, several National Assembly (MP) seats, and a number of county assembly ward representative posts.

The vacancies have arisen due to a combination of factors such as resignations, deaths, and nullification of election results by courts.

Campaigns will officially run from October 8 to November 24, 2025.
