Tetra Pak East Africa will once again provide hydration at the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, marking yet another year of partnership by pledging Sh7 million worth of responsibly packaged water for more than 30,000 participants, including over 200 elite athletes and international competitors
The event, which remains Kenyaโs only World Athletics Road Race Label-certified marathon, will be staged on October 26, 2025.
The company has stressed that its involvement in the marathon is intended to embody the values of health, resilience, and sustainability.
It explained that its role is not confined to refreshing runners but also aligning one of Africaโs largest sporting events with eco-conscious practices.
Reflecting this position, Stella Ondimu, Head of Communications at Tetra Pak East Africa, described the wider purpose of the collaboration in clear terms.
โThis partnership isnโt just about keeping runners refreshed. Itโs about championing health, resilience, and sustainability in one of Africaโs most inspiring sporting arenas. Weโre proud to hydrate participants while showing that eco-conscious choices can power world-class events,โ she remarked.
The Nairobi Marathon, founded in 2003, has become a major fixture on the athletics calendar, drawing competitors from 92 nations and supported by 43 sponsors.
Standard Chartered remains the lead backer, contributing Sh129.5 million ($1 million) alongside Sh103 million in sponsorship support, which highlights the scale of investment channelled into the event.
Tetra Pak has also encouraged its own employees to join the field, with more than 10 staff members signing up to run.
This step is presented as part of the companyโs broader commitment to wellness, inclusivity, and community engagement.
Beyond the race itself, Tetra Pak is using the marathon as a stage to reinforce its global โProtect Whatโs Goodโ promise.
The company emphasises that the pledge extends to protecting human health through safe hydration while simultaneously protecting the planet through packaging solutions designed with sustainability in mind.
Each water pack distributed along the route is intended to illustrate this dual commitment, offering runners the fuel for endurance while lowering environmental impact.
As the countdown to October continues, the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon is set to once again showcase progress, resilience, and community.
With Tetra Pak providing hydration for yet another year, the event will also highlight how sport and sustainability can move forward together.
