Safaricom Business on Thursday convened more than 50 top IT and security executives for an exclusive session on strengthening enterprise resilience amid escalating cyber threats.
Held as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the event offered participants a firsthand look at Safaricomโs Managed Security Operations Centre (MSOC), which enables organisations to detect, prevent, and respond to attacks in real time.
Attendees also experienced live threat simulations and demonstrations of MSOCโs analytics-driven monitoring tools.
โEnterprises can no longer treat security as an afterthought; it is now central to business continuity and reputation,โ noted Safaricom Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer Frankline Okata.
Kenya recorded 4.6 billion cyber threats in Q2 2025, according to the Communications Authority (CA), driven by system vulnerabilities, poor patching, and AI-powered attacks.
Safaricomโs Chief Corporate Security Officer Nicholas Mulila warned that ransomware, phishing, and insider threats are on the rise in the country hence the need for vigilance.
โThe question is no longer if a business will be targeted, but when,โ stated Mulila.
He added: โSafaricom is committed to being a trusted partner, helping businesses withstand and recover quickly from these increasingly sophisticated threats.โ
The breakfast briefing sets the stage for the Safaricom Cybersecurity Summit 2025 slated for October 16, 2025 in Nairobi, which will gather more than 450 industry leaders, regulators, and partners under the theme โPowering Progress, Securing Growth.โ
