The fairways of Nakuru Golf Club are set for a showdown as the PGK Equator Tour enters its fifth leg on Thursday, with more than 40 Kenyan professionals chasing their Olympic dream.
The par-73 course will be the battleground through Sunday, October 5, 2025, as the pro golfers eye the ultimate prize, a ticket to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Leading the charge are Safaricom-sponsored stars Mohit Mediratta, Mutahi Kibugu, Matthew Wahome and Samuel Njoroge, all keen to card low scores and keep their Olympic hopes alive.
โMy dream of playing at the Olympics is still alive,โ said Mediratta.
He added: โThe greens can be unpredictable, but Iโm ready to give my best performance in Nakuru, go for the birdies, and make my fans and sponsors proud.โ
Currently topping the leaderboard is the red-hot Greg Snow, who has already sunk three victories at Great Rift Lodge, Mt Kipipiri, and Limuru after an opening seventh-place finish at Ruiru.
Snow sits comfortably at 3,330 points, with Njoroge Kibugu chasing in second and Daniel Nduva in third.
Safaricomโs quartet are holding strong: Njoroge (6th), Mediratta (7th), Mutahi (9th), and Wahome aiming to climb higher, while John Karichu rounds out the top 10.
Since teeing off, the Equator Tour has grown into a proving ground for Kenyaโs golfing elite, testing players on different courses, sharpening their swings under pressure, and building global ranking points stroke by stroke.
So far, four stops: Ruiru, Limuru, Mt Kipipiri and Great Rift Lodge, have set the stage with Nakuru promising another nail-biting weekend as every putt, drive and bunker escape could shape Kenyaโs Olympic journey.
The Tour is supported by Safaricom, NCBA, and VISA among others, with Safaricom investing Sh3 million over three years to back four top Kenyan pros in their hunt for Olympic glory.
