Reggaea fanatic Kartellah Maicy has dispelled myths that reggae fans are marijuana lovers. Speaking on TV 47 on Wednesday evening, the reggae presenter said that not all people who listen to reggae are users of illegal drugs.

Kartellah explained that she doesn’t use herbs( Marijuana) or Miraa as some people might have thought. She said that many have different preferences when it comes to joy and peace of the mind.

She sampled that some people choose alcohol, others Miraa, and a section choose cool music to calm their minds. However, she dispelled the generalisation theory which alleges that reggae fans use herbs.

“Si kila mtu husikiza reggae hutumia herb. Mimi situmii herb au jaba. Reggae music is not all about herb. Unatafuta poison itakuuua. Wewe kama yako ni pombe, nayo nayo.” Kartellah stated.

She added that reggae fans are not judgmental since they don’t call out Amapiano fans for their love for alcohol; “Mbona sisi hatu-judge wasee wa Amapiano na pombe? Mbona hatuwa-judge?” She posed.

The TV/Radio personality also opened up about her past job experience before she found her niche in the media industry. She revealed that she used to work at a club in Westlands before she joined the road show dancing crew, and later, as an MC and radio presenter.

“Niliuza shots for five years then nikaambia God sitaki kufanya hiyo kazi. Niliacha job kama sijui ni nini ningefanya  or pa kutoa rent. I just told God, do something.” She shared.

Currently, Kartella is a reggae presenter at Cape Media, where she hosts reggae shows on Radio 47 and TV 47.
