Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 49-year-old man and his 23-year-old son for allegedly conning unsuspecting M-Pesa operators โ€“ proving that like father like son extends beyond virtuous traits.

According to the DCI, Peter Mwendwa Musyoka and his son, Dennis Musyoka, were caught at their hideout in Komarockโ€™s Nyama Villa estate after investigators traced digital footprints linking them to a Ksh.236,000 M-Pesa scam that unfolded on September 2, 2025, at Gikomba Market.

During a search of their lair, detectives recovered a stash of used and unused SIM cards, ID cards, agent and paybill numbers from Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom, as well as laptops and smartphones โ€“ all tools believed to have been used to orchestrate the scam. If only they had used all that tech-savvy for legitimate purposes!

Preliminary investigations revealed that the father, believed to be the mastermind, had roped his son into the scheme as part of a broader syndicate targeting mobile money dealers.

The duo was taken into custody, processed, and now awaits arraignment on fraud charges.
