Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has called on the Kamba community, led by former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, to fully embrace President William Rutoโs Kenya Kwanza administration, emphasizing that the government is inclusive and committed to the well-being of all Kenyans.
Speaking in Kathonzweni, Makueni County, CS Ruku expressed concern that parts of the Kamba community risk marginalization from key national decision-making processes due to continued political alignment with the opposition.
โIt is unfortunate for any community, including a section of the Kamba, to isolate themselves from a government that is inclusive and broad-based. The Kenya Kwanza administration is for all Kenyans, and every community must feel part of it,โ Ruku stated.
The Cabinet Secretary acknowledged the Kamba communityโs significant historical role in shaping Kenyaโs governance, citing influential leaders such as the late Mulu Mutisya and Kalonzo Musyoka, who has served as Vice President and held key ministerial portfolios under Presidents Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki.
He urged the regionโs leadership to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors by engaging constructively with the current administration for the sake of national cohesion and regional development.
CS Ruku further criticized opposition figures for propagating narratives that he said divide rather than unite Kenyans, accusing them of prioritizing personal ambitions over national progress. He appealed to leaders from all communities to come together under one government and work towards a unified, prosperous Nation.
Addressing the critical issue of food security, CS Ruku reassured residents of Makueni and neighboring counties that the government is actively tackling hunger and drought through comprehensive short- and long-term strategies.
He revealed that the Ministry has launched a nationwide relief food distribution programme targeting all 23 arid and semi-arid counties. Following recent inspections of National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) stores, Ruku confirmed that there are sufficient food reserves to support affected areas.
He called on National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) to closely monitor food needs in their jurisdictions and provide timely updates to the Ministry through the State Department for Special Programmes to ensure no deserving case goes unaddressed.
CS Ruku also took the opportunity to remind all public servants of their constitutional obligations under Article 232, which enshrines the core values and principles of public service, among them professionalism, efficiency, accountability, equity, and meaningful public participation in policymaking.
He commended President William Ruto for setting a strong example in public service delivery, describing him as a committed and hardworking leader dedicated to the service of all Kenyans.
โThe President has led by example as the countryโs number one public servant. It is now upon all public officers to reflect these values in how they serve the people,โ Ruku concluded.
