Kisii Governor Simba Arati has sent a message of condolence to the families affected by a tragic road accident at Daraja Mbili that claimed several lives and left many others injured.
In a statement issued on August 6, 2025, via his official X account, the governor described the crash as a heartbreaking incident, expressing solidarity with the victims and their loved ones.
โWith deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we mourn the tragic multi-vehicle accident at Daraja Mbili. This heartbreaking incident has resulted in the loss of several lives and many injuries,โ Arati stated.
Arati further confirmed that some of the injured victims are currently receiving treatment at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH), where he says medical teams are working to stabilise their condition.

While offering prayers for the recovery of those injured in the accident, Arati extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, acknowledging the immense pain and loss they are experiencing.

During this challenging time, we stand in solidarity with you, praying for strength, peace, and comfort to guide you through these difficult moments. May healing come to all those affected by this tragedy,โ the statement continued.
Arati also wished a quick recovery to those injured in the crash, assuring residents of the countyโs support in the wake of the accident.

In an earlier press briefing, Kitutu Central OCPD Kazungu Charo confirmed that two people have died from the accident after a lorry lost control and collided with two other vehicles at Daraja Mbili market along the Kisii-Migori highway.
โAt 8:25 am, an accident occurred at Daraja Mbili Market. A Tata vehicle, which is a Canter, lost control and knocked two other vehicles, a Toyota Prado and a Probox,โ he explained.
โTwo people, one lady and a man, who were going about their daily activities, lost their lives in the incident,โ he added.
